David Dew LLB, B.Ec, GDLP – joined Andrew in partnership in 2005 and took ownership of the practice with David Hopkins in July 2019. David has over 25 years of commercial and property law experience.

David holds an Economics degree (with an Accounting major), in addition to his Law degree.

David currently serves on the Property Committee of the Law Society of South Australia and on the Mainstreets and Retail Committee of the Property Council (SA Division).

David has overseen a number of major property transactions, including the acquisitions by PPI Funds Management syndicates of the Seaford Shopping Centre (SA) for $72m, of the Nambour Shopping Centres (QLD) for $52m and of the Taree Shopping Centre (NSW) for $53m. David’s attention to detail in such matters is second to none.

David Hopkins LLB, GCLP – has been practising commercial property and estate planning law for over 20 years. David joined the partnership in 2007 and took ownership of the practice with David Dew in July 2019.

David serves on the Property Committee of the Law Society of South Australia and has made numerous presentations to solicitors at the Law Society of South Australia, real estate agents, property managers, conveyancers and post-graduate law students on commercial leasing, including the legal and practical complexities of sub-leasing and issues arising under retail leasing legislation.

David represented the Law Society of South Australia in all matters relating to the review and reform of the Retail and Commercial Leases Act 1995 including the recent passage through Parliament of the Retail and Commercial Leases (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2019, and also represents the Law Society on the Retail Shop Leases Advisory Committee. David is considered one of South Australia’s foremost experts in the field of commercial leasing.

From the beginning of his career, David has demonstrated an ability to attract and retain clients with a highly service focused approach, which is greatly appreciated by his many loyal clients.

Andrew Brown LLB, GDLP – the Firm’s founder, has practised law since 1984, specialising in property and commercial law. Andrew established Brown & Associates in March 1998. Following the transfer of ownership of Brown & Associates on 1 July 2019, Andrew continues to provide his experience and expertise to his many clients (and to David and David) as a consultant to the firm.

Andrew has served on the Property Management and Law Committee of the Property Council of Australia (South Australian Division) and on the Property Committee of the Law Society of South Australia and has tutored in property law at the Law School of the Flinders University.

Andrew has presented numerous papers to legal practitioners at the Law Society of South Australia and for private legal education companies, regarding commercial tenancy law in South Australia. He has also made submissions on behalf of the Property Committee of the Law Society of South Australia to Members of State Parliament regarding proposed amendments to the Retail and Commercial Leases Act.

Andrew’s representation of clients’ interests in an extremely practical and effective manner for over 30 years has seen him develop a significant number of long standing client relationships in the property industry and a strong reputation for consistently achieving his clients’ objectives.
